What exactly is Locum Tenens?
The term “Locum Tenens” (Latin) simply means “one holding a place”. It is
the term used to describe the placement of temporary physicians &
healthcare providers into temporary needs.
Why are Locum Tenens Physicians Used?
The short answer is…for numerous reasons. Just to name a few, Practices and Facilities use Locum Tenens for:
- CME, Maternity Leave, and Vacation Coverage
- Short-term help while a Permanent Physician Search is underway
- Hospital or Group Expansion
- Unexpected Physician Absence
- Part-Time Needs that don’t merit a FTE

What does it cost me to use a Recruiter?
Nothing! All we require is for you to provide us with the proper documentation to credential you so you may be covered under our Medical Malpractice.
What type of benefits do I receive when working for All-Star Recruiting?
We take care of all housing and travel expenses, which can range from a hotel to a single family home depending on the area and length of assignment. You also will receive local transportation (usually a rental car), and guaranteed Medical Malpractice Coverage ("A" Rated w/Guaranteed Pre-Paid Tail). We also will pay for any credentialing and license fees you incur while working for us.
I don’t like paperwork!..can you help?
Well first off, we don’t like it either! But to answer the question, yes, we actually can. Once your basic credentialing packet is done (about 30-40 minutes of your time) we will help you fill out Hospital Credentialing info, Licensing Applications, and anything else we can to keep your paperwork to a minimum.
In addition, after filling out our credentialing packet, you will get priority in terms of the jobs offered by All-Star Recruiting. Because of our long-term relationships, many of our jobs are not advertised since they are filled internally by our credentialed providers. So get that paperwork in today!
How much will I make as a Locum Tenens Provider?
Physicians working locum tenens are independent contractors and usually earn close to, or over, market wages for their specialty. Each specialty is different, and even the assignments can vary greatly in terms of compensation.
When am I paid? Do you offer Direct Deposit?
We pay our providers twice a month, and yes, we offer Direct Deposit.
