Licensing & Credentialing Assistance
As a locum tenens practitioner, you have the unique option of choosing where-and how long-you
would like to provide services. As you may or may not know, application processes are state-specific,
and physicians can expect to be required to submit copies of their current licenses, all diplomas and
medical school residency forms, DEA paperwork, and any malpractice documents. In short, if you
aren’t a fan of paperwork, it isn’t a fun experience.
However, one of the many benefits of working with All-Star Recruiting is the use of our licensing department
to assist you in this regard. Here’s how it works:
- Call us and we’ll take some brief information down about you
- Fill out your initial Application with us and get approved by our Credentialing Department
- Give us a list of states you are interested in practicing
- Let us scan our client database of opportunities and see what matches up with your preferences
- Let us do the majority of the paperwork for you!
Here are some facts about acquiring state licenses:
- Some states have a temp-to-perm license option. Those applications are usually not as detailed as permanent apps and do not require as much verification as a permanent license. Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, and Wyoming offer these types of licenses. Each state stipulates how long their temporary licenses are valid. In Arizona, for example, a temporary license is good for 180 days at just that one facility.
- Some states such as Mississippi require an additional exam on their state laws, while others, including Minnesota, North Carolina, and Wyoming, require onsite interviews, although all boards have the discretion to request these.
- Temporary and Locums Tenen licenses can usually be completed quickly if the States offer them, in some instances 2 to 3 weeks. These scenarios typically require a letter from the client facility, explaining that they desperately need this physician and want the process to be expedited.
- California, Texas, and Florida typically take the longest to complete.
- Licensing for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants have completely different rules and timelines, so please call your All-Star Recruiting representative today for more details.
